Simulators
Liberty Creek High School is proud to use flight training devices from Redbird Flight Simulations, Gleim and True Course Simulations. Our lab is state of the art, and one of the best in the country. Welcome aboard!
Redbird FMX Full Motion Advance Aviation Training Device - This simulator is in many flight schools around the country. It simulates pitch, bank and roll as well as turbulence and wind effects. The cockpit can be configured as a single engine Cessna 172 trainer with traditional steam gages, or a G1000 glass aviation panel. All buttons, switches and knobs work just like a real airplane. It can also be configured as a twin engine Piper Seminole trainer to practice operation on one engine. It includes a camera in the cockpit which displays externally on a LCD screen so students can view an external view of the aircraft as well as a picture in picture realtime video of the pilot in the cockpit.
Redbird LD - Advanced Aviation Training Device - This is a stationary version of the Redbird FMX. The panels and throttle quadrant are swappable with the FMX for single or multi-engine practice. Since It is not enclosed, it is perfect for teaching a larger group of students at one time.
Redbird Jay Velocity - This desktop simulator is perfect for getting started on flying basics. Like the rest of the Redbird sims, it runs Prepar3D by Lockheed Martin. These also run X-Plane by Laminar Research. The throttle quadrant, yoke and pedals are all reinforced for heavy use. These systems can be networked together so one student can be air traffic control for other students flying, all at the same airport.
Gleim Basic Aviation Training Device - This trainer uses X-Plane, coupled with the X-Plane flight training course by Gleim to combine skills learned on the Redbird GIFT course into a chain of maneuvers, similar to an actual flight lesson. The system features a touch screen interface for instruments in the cockpit. These systems can also be networked together for multiplayer flight in the same airspace.
Redbird Xwind Trainer - Liberty Creek HS will be one of the only two high schools in the country with this trainer. It simulated cross winds during approach and landing with yaw and roll motions, and it scores the pilot on how well he/she does holding the centerline.
Redbird GIFT, or Guided Independent Flight Training is used on all of our Redbird Simulators (except Xwind). Learn more about Redbird GIFT here. See the Flying Magazine article about Redbird adding scenarios to the AOPA Curriculum here. It takes every maneuver a pilot must demonstrate to pass his/her Private Pilot checkride, and breaks it down into individual lessons which are automatically scored according to the Airman Certification Standards.
G1000 touchscreen cockpit with Honeycomb Alpha flight yoke and Honeycomb Bravo throttle quadrant.
Gleim X-Plane Flight Training Course is used with our Gleim BATDs.
True Course Simulations - VR Simulators & Curriculum. These are the same simulators that are in use at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and the United States Air Force Academy. Liberty Creek HS is the first high school in the nation to implement these amazing simulators and their flight training curriculum. See the Embry-Riddle article about their simulators here. AOPA did an article showing a 30% decrease in time needed to solo using these VR sims. Check out the article here! An additional article was just released showcasing True Course Simulations at EAA Airventure in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Read it here!
In addition to our FAA Approved Training Devices, Liberty Creek will also use Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and X-Plane 11.
